The Boynton Canyon Trail is one of the most popular trails in the Sedona area and with good reason. A few miles into the hike is a spur trail that leads to the Subway. With a little scrambling most people can get into it.
These are Sinagua ruins. The Sinagua people occupied the area from Flagstaff to Camp Verde and most of the Mogollon Rim from 650 to 1425 CE.
Turtle petroglyph found near the ruins.
This is an example of a hanging garden. The sandstone in this area contains enough moisture for this type of plant to thrive as long as it is in the shade for most of each day.
View down Boynton Canyon.
Pretty butterfly found along the trail.
