Birds of Phoenix

We are in the Phoenix area until April Fools Day. Now that my torn meniscus is responding to physical therapy I’m getting out more. The desert is not really known for its birds, especially water birds, but only 8 miles from our campground is a large area of lakes where many birds migrate to spend the winter and some stay year round. Here are a few of them and some dragon flies. More later.

Black-necked Stilts stay here year round
Gambrel’s Quail a native of the desert
Great Egret
Green Heron
Mexican Amberwing Dragon Fly
Roseate Skimmer Dragon Fly
